On Friday, September 30, Georgetown Middle School held a health fair in order to inform students on a wide variety of health related topics. The health fair consisted of two assemblies and six 10-minute mini presentations. Members from the community were invited to present at the health fair and offer students the opportunity to be engaged in topics related to drug use, the dangers of smoking, hygiene, sun safety, internet safety, nutrition/fitness, drinking or texting while driving and even tattoo/piercing safety. The Georgetown Police Department, Georgetown Community Hospital, Kentucky State Police, the Scott County Health Department and Bleed Blue Tattoo and Piercing were all involved in giving the students at GMS information to allow them to make responsible decisions and be more aware of their own health and safety. Students were allowed the opportunity to ask questions which gave the students information that they eagerly wanted but also helped drive a lot of the presentations.
