After lunch, the students attended an additional assembly presented by a Scott County dispatcher. During this assembly, students were presented information on the importance of 9-1-1, what information should be shared when making a 9-1-1 call and for what things a call to 9-1-1 should be made. Students were eager to gain information and asked meaningful questions which helped guide the presentation.
At the conclusion of the 9-1-1 assembly, all students were escorted outside to participate in a fun walk/run. Staff members, parent volunteers, community members and Georgetown Police helped guide the students through a 2-mile course. Teachers at GMS joined the students and also took part in the fun run. Kaiden Johnson, an 8th grade student, was the first to cross the finish line and complete the 2-mile course.
