If you travel Cardinal Drive on a regular basis, you have seen the ground moving right before your eyes. Renovation of the Scott County High School track and field started on May 8. The field construction is well underway in just a few short days and on target for the August 1 completion date.
The Scott County Board of Education accepted bids for the project at its meeting on April 20, 2017 after months of careful consideration by the board and district leadership team which included feedback from student athletes at SCHS. The full size turf field and track will be utilized by football, lacrosse, soccer, and track teams year-round according to Athletic Director D.T. Wells.
“Young people involved in school-sponsored activities deserve every possible chance to excel and this includes access to quality facilities for practice and games,” commented Scott County High School Football Coach Jim McKee. McKee is impressed with the progress made on the construction within the first week.
Below, you will see an architect’s rendering of the turf field as well as construction photos dated May 9, 2017.
